About Repinkee
For people who notice too much.
You came to check a reference number. An hour later, you’re comparing date fonts, questioning a rotor engraving and explaining to someone who didn’t ask why this particular blue is wrong.
We know the feeling.
Repinkee is an independent publication about watches and collecting, with a particular interest in replicas—and the craftsmanship, compromises and collector behavior that make them worth discussing.
A replica can be impressive, disappointing and fascinating for entirely different reasons. Sometimes the case is excellent and the clasp needs manners. Sometimes a stock watch makes an expensive modification look unnecessary. Sometimes the most interesting story is the factory behind it.
That’s where we come in.
Beyond “looks good”
Our Stories explore the people, ideas and peculiar habits behind the watches. Reviews examine the details that deserve attention, including the ones a flattering photograph conveniently avoids. New Releases follow the latest arrivals with curiosity and a healthy respect for the distance between a factory announcement and a finished watch.
The Magazine brings it together for a longer read. The shop supplies a few things for the habit. More watches, you’ll have to arrange yourself.
Plenty of opinions. No allocation.
We appreciate genuine watches, take replicas seriously and reserve the right to find the entire business slightly ridiculous. An impressive movement deserves attention. So does the fact that we’ve spent twenty minutes discussing the shape of a seven.
We’re not affiliated with the watch brands, factories or dealers we cover, and we don’t sell watches or broker deals. Praise has to be earned. A familiar name doesn’t get a free pass.
Factory claims remain claims until there’s reason to believe them. We distinguish what we’ve examined from what others report, and we welcome corrections when we miss something.
Pull up a chair.
You don’t need a collection, a purchase history or an opinion about the correct shade of green.
You’ll probably acquire the last one.
There’s room here for curiosity.
