GF | De Ville Prestige Small Seconds — Eight Ways to Say Nothing Loudly
GF brings back the discontinued 39 mm De Ville Prestige small seconds in eight dial and case combinations, with a claimed 2202 co-axial inside. The genuine watch left the catalogue years ago. The factory did not get the memo.

Dress watches are supposed to whisper. This one arrives in eight voices at once: three in steel, two in yellow-gold tone and three in rose-gold tone, with blue, black, silver and white dials spread across them. It is a lot of choice for a watch whose entire personality is restraint.
The release
The genuine De Ville Prestige Co-Axial small seconds is a 39 mm round dress watch, about 10 mm thick, with Roman numeral indexes, a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, a closed caseback and 30 m of water resistance. Inside is the self-winding calibre 2202, a chronometer-certified movement with the co-axial escapement and a 48-hour power reserve. Reference listings generally describe it as built on an ETA 2895 base, which is where the small seconds comes from. The references in the 4614 family appear to date from the late 2000s to the early 2010s, and the maker’s own pages now mark them as no longer available. The silver dials combine a vertically brushed centre with a circular-brushed outer zone, which is the two-zone look the genuine pages describe.
What GF claims
The flyer lists a 39 x 10 mm case, Roman numerals, the two-zone dial finish of vertical and circular brushing “restored” from the original, and a Cal. 2202 automatic co-axial movement. The case size matches. The flyer does not say what the movement is actually based on, and we would bet on something more ordinary than a working co-axial escapement. The dials still say chronometer, which is a promise the factory is making on someone else’s behalf. The flyer also shows a closed caseback with a brushed finish, so the movement stays out of sight, which is convenient for everybody.
The eight combinations do not all map neatly onto the genuine catalogue. Steel with blue, black or silver and the gold-cased silver and white versions follow familiar references. We could not confirm every pairing, including the black dial in a rose-gold-tone case, so treat some of these as the factory filling in the gaps.
The take
In the photographs, the proportions look right, the Roman numerals are crisp, and the two-zone brushing on the silver dials catches the light the way it should. The black dial in the rose-gold-tone case is the moodiest of the lot, which is why it is on the cover. Each watch has been photographed in front of a timegrapher, which is either reassuring or a very deliberate prop. A quiet, well-sized dress watch in eight flavours. Pick one, and let the others keep whispering.
